Tuesday 24th September
time: 10:30am - 11Am
company: ISHIDA EUROPE (STAND: B50)
product: IX-PD (X-ray inspection System)
The new IX-PD (Photon Counting Dual Energy) X-ray series benefits from a superior sensor to offer the highest levels of detection. This technology differentiates, with superb levels of accuracy, between product and low-density contaminants, reducing the rate of inaccurate detection.
- Incorporates new sensor and image processing technology that is capable of detecting both low density items (incl. bones in fish fillets) and very small size foreign bodies (such as stainless steel wires) with excellent accuracy
- Combined with Ishida’s proven Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Dual Energy technologies, the IX-PD produces ultra high resolution and clearer images than conventional X-ray systems
- This technology enables the X-rays to be directly converted to electrons, rather than through a photo diode, which increases energy efficiency
- Demonstrated in tests near 100% detection rates for bones in chicken, diced meat and sausages, achieving for bone detection in chicken breast fillets an increase from 40% to 100% compared with conventional X-ray technologies
- Designed for high volume production lines and for densely packed and overlapping food items, which traditionally makes it harder to detect small contaminants
- The IX-PD's ability to recognise with high accuracy the difference between food and foreign body, reduces false detections, enabling companies to maintain stringent quality control procedures without compromising throughput
- New service offering for X-ray machines delivers a guaranteed Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of less than 3% per annum over a 5-year period
time: 11:30am - 12pm
company: SOLENT AUTOMATION (stand: e90)
product: SOLPAL 2.0, SOLPAL MINI, SOLCAR
The system at the PPMA Show will show our 2 different size palletising machines the SolPal 2.0 and the SolPal Mini. The SolPal 2.0 is a 2 pallet palletising system and the SolPal Mini is a palletising machine with one pallet location. These have one of the smallest footprints on the market whilst maintaining high pick and place rates. They can be easily integrated into existing production lines which makes them very appealing to SME’s as well as large companies.
As well as palletising these machines can also depalletise. This will be shown at PPMA where by the SolPal 2.0 will be palletising whilst the SolPal Mini will be depalletising.
Our newest addition to our portfolio is the SolCar, this is an AMR that can carry pallets. This will unload all of our machines and drop pallets off to a number of different designations around the customers shop floor. At the PPMA Show, SolCar is loading and unloading our machines.
time: 1:30Pm - 2pm
company: FRISTAM PUMPS (stand: e120)
product: FDS NANO
This new pump really marks 2 major milestones. 1 - it's the world's smallest double screw pump, truly there is no hygienic screw technology which is smaller than this. 2 - it marks Fristam's entry into a totally new area of pumping, as this pump can complete a dosing function. Previously no other Fristam pump was suitable for fulfilling such a niche function, because our flow rates are usually a lot higher, even on the smallest pumps in our range.
On top of this, the pump is also fully CIPable, so it can perform its own CIP cycle so the pump never needs to be taken apart for cleaning. It always surprises us at the PPMA Show, when we hear that so many companies are still stripping down pumps after every single use to clean. This is totally not required with any Fristam FDS and the Nano is no exception.
Unlike other dosing technology this pump can dose, pump high flow volumes (such as the CIP) and pump extremely low flow rates too. Its capable of handling 1cp - 1millioncP which is a range as extreme as water to something quite similar to a playdough! Unlike other dosing technology the FDS Nano can work without cavitation, which means that bubbles of air in the line (something common with dosing) are passed with ease. Other technologies find these problematic and can even cause a breakdown - but this is not possible with the FDS Nano.

Thursday 26th September
time: 10:30am - 11Am
company: SCAYL (stand: d84)
product: MULTI HEAD WEIGHER, VACUUM LOADER AND DOYPACK MACHINE
2024 has been a transformative year for Scayl as we shift our focus towards fully automated solutions. Our latest machinery marks a new chapter for us as we continue to expand, grow, and support businesses. One of our standout innovations is the multi-head machine, specifically designed for a large multinational retailer to fully automate their packing processes.
The operation is straightforward: products are loaded into the multi-head hopper, which can hold a large quantity at once. The machine accurately moves the product to the filling section, where precise vibrations and multiple sensors ensure the correct weight of products is placed into the packaging. Before this, the machine uses air to grab a bag, place a divider inside, and jets of air to open the packaging. Once filled, the machine seamlessly advances the package to the next stage, where it is sealed, inked, and stacked.
This machine operates continuously at a speed equivalent to the work of five employees, significantly enhancing efficiency and productivity.
time: 11:30am - 12pM
company: SILVERSON MACHINES (stand: f70)
product: FMX10
As part of a range of new small-scale mixing equipment, Silverson Machines are launching the FMX10, a small-scale powder/liquid mixer. This mixer bridges the gap between the laboratory scale FMX5 and the larger Flashmix product range. It provides a simple, effective and hygienic means of powder/liquid mixing on a small scale, with a batch size of up to 50 litres, depending on viscosity. Featuring the same pumping rotor design as the HV model, the FMX10 is able to process higher viscosity mixes, and the option of a high speed motor, capable of 9,000rpm, and Flameproof specification makes this model even more versatile.
In operation, the mixer recirculates liquid from the vessel and powder is loaded into the stainless steel hopper. Once the powder feed valve is opened, the powder is drawn into the high velocity liquid stream, with the ingredients coming into contact with each other just prior to the mixer’s high shear rotor/stator workhead. A brief period of recirculation results in an agglomerate-free, homogeneous dispersion in a matter of minutes. The standard powder feed hopper has a 5 litre capacity. Different designs are available to assist with the flow of more cohesive powders.
Being launched alongside the FMX10 is a range of small-scale In-Line mixers. These new mixers include the 150 UHS In-Line, which is designed for Ultra Hygienic applications, the 088/150 UHS, a small-scale Multistage In-Line mixer and the UHS-HV, a unit for mixing high viscosity products, as with the FMX10, each of these is suitable for batches of up to 50 litres, depending on viscosity , making them ideal for applications in the Pharmaceutical sector as well as other “clean” industries such as food and cosmetics. The entire range will make its debut at the PPMA Show this year.
time: 1:30Pm - 2pm
company: OAL (OLYMPUS AUTOMATION) (stand: a54)
product: APRIL EYE - RIGHT PRODUCT
Human error during food product assembly can present major food safety challenges. The wrong ingredients or part finished products can be used, leading to product recalls due allergen risks.
For manufacturers where quality is paramount, the final assembly of ready meals and prepared food is important. Every grain of rice, vegetable and meat must be to specification.
Previous attempts to use camera technology have failed due to the lack of flexibility and ease of use.
OAL’s latest AI vision technology overcomes these challenges to guarantee every product packed is right and to specification.
The solution can be trained on as few as 5 images, so it’s fast and easy to deploy, critical in the food industry.
