LOMA COMBINES METAL DETECTION AND CHECKWEIGHING EXPERTISE AT PPMA 2009

The compact and versatile CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector can be engineered to suit individual application requirements and weighs a wide range of flexible and rigid packs up to 6kg.

Every unit is designed to survive even the harshest of manufacturing environments, illustrating Loma’s reputation for long lasting durability. Reflecting this, the CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector is constructed of stainless steel, right down to bearings and rollers. The high quality electronics guarantee optimum reliability and the flexible multi-frequency detection adapts to new products and packages within seconds.

Many Loma customers have expressed interest in the new CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector as significant savings can be made when purchasing a single combined machine as opposed to separate checkweigher and metal detector units.

Despite the comprehensive functions of the CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector is simple to use and both machines can be operated from one single graphical colour touch screen control panel. The CW3 combined checkweigher and metal detector has a USB connection and a PC interface making it easy to produce diagnostic and statistical reports of performance with an option to download these either to memory stick or to a factory network.

Loma will also be showcasing two versions of its flagship IQ3+ metal detector system, the IQ3+ Metal Detector Conveyor and the IQ3+ PipeLine. Loma’s range of metal detectors leads the field in sensitivity, stability and reliability.

The IQ3+ is a leading performer, leaving other manufacturer’s metal detectors behind due to its increased immunity to vibration, electrical interference, case distortion and thermal shock. The IQ3+ Metal Detector Conveyor is a true multi-frequency machine, able to operate at any frequency between 40kHz and 900kHz, with the ability to select the ‘correct’ operating frequency in seconds. This eliminates the past restrictions caused by single frequency and ‘limited frequency’ detectors making it unique in the current marketplace.

HACCP and retailer compliance is made simple by the IQ3 Performance Validation System (PVS), which automatically prompts the operator to test the performance at pre-set intervals, according to HACCP principles. This takes the emphasis and responsibility off the operator so that they are not relied upon to verify the test. Test results cannot be falsified and are automatically recorded by the system thanks to this unique feature. Also, if metal is detected in a product, the contaminant log lists when the contamination was detected and indicates size. In addition, the IQ3+ meets IP69K ‘harsh environment’ wash-down specifications.

The brand new IQ3+ PipeLine is a pumped metal detection system, which means that it is the ideal choice for pumped liquid and semi-liquid products including diced, ground and chopped meat, dairy products, sauces, soups, jams and preserves.

Complementing the checkweighing and metal detection products on show, Loma will also be displaying its most up-to-the minute X-ray system, the X4. The Loma X4 offers the very latest advances in X-ray technology, coupled with the highest levels of accuracy, reliability, safety and longevity that Loma is reputed for. It is able to detect non-metallic contaminants and monitor weight, size and shape of products to maintain strict safety and quality control.

The X4 X-ray system is robust, hygienic and simple to use, offering customers a sophisticated, easy-to-operate and multi-functional inspection system. Compliant with European standards and with HACCP principles, the X4 ensures that reliability and speed of production are not compromised, whilst offering cutting edge inspection technology.
